BCL: Both matches end in draw on final day
Both the four-day first class cricket matches of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) ended in draw on the 4th and final day at two different venues on Tuesday.
Walton Central Zone played a draw against Prime Bank South Zone at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah while Islami Bank East Zone settled for a draw against BCB North Zone at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
Central Zone Vs South Zone
In Fatullah, Central Zone, having 299 runs in the 1st innings, resumed the 2nd innings with overnight total 7/1 in 4 overs on Tuesday morning with a target of 279 runs and scored 190 for 5 in 79 overs on the final day to settle for a draw.
Shuvagoto Hom, who scored a century in the first innings, made a half century in the 2nd innings on Tuesday contributing 52 runs off 124 deliveries with six fours, in addition to his six-wicket haul in the first innings and four wickets in the 2nd innings.
Hom was adjudged as the man of the match for his all-rounding performances.
Besides, number six Taibur Rahman (not out 39), Abdul Majiz (36) and Saif Hasan (22) were the other notable scorers for Central Zone.
National pacer Rubel Hossain and spinner Shohag Gazi grabbed two wickets each conceding 41 and 54 runs respectively.
North Zone vs East Zone
At Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, replying to East Zone’s 1st innings total of 490 runs, North Zone resumed the 1st innings with overnight total 276 for 6 in 98 overs and were all out for 404 runs in 151.4 overs.
Number four batsman Naeem Islam, who was in batting 85 runs, hammered a century making just 100 runs off 284 balls featuring eleven boundaries while another night watch batsman Suhrawardy Shuvo (35) scored 59 runs off 101 balls hitting seven boundaries.
Besides, tail-ender Sanjamul Islam (not out 54) and lower order Farhad Reza (21) were the other major contributors for North Zone.
Abul Hassan Raju claimed three wickets for 66 runs while Alok Kapali took two for 17 runs.
In reply, East Zone, having 490 runs in the first innings, opened the 2nd innings on Tuesday and scored 92 for 1 in 21 overs at the end of the 4th day (Tuesday).
After the dismissal of opener Afif Hossain (3), another opener Imtiaz Hossain and one down Tasamul Haque were in batting with 44 and 32 runs respectively.
Nasir Hossain took the lone wicket of Afif Hossain conceding 15 runs.
Afif, who hit a century with 105 runs in the first innings, was adjudged man of the match.
