BSF pelts Kurigram man to death, body recovered from river

Bangladeshi man who plunged into a river in Kurigram after being struck in the head by a rock hurled by the BSF has been found dead. On early Tuesday morning, Nur Hossain, 25, was bringing in cattle from India with several others. The cattle merchants were making the cattle cross the Kalai River under a bridge. A BSF patrol team spotted the merchants and began hurling stones without any warnings. One of the stones struck Nur Hossain in the head and he passed out in the middle of the river. The current swept him away before his companions could seize his unconscious body. On Wednesday morning, Nur’s body was found floating in the Jinjiram River upstream. Locals informed police and BGB, who quickly arrived and recovered the body. Lt Col Atikur Rahman, director of 35 Battalion of BGB, said they have “strongly protested” the BSF actions which led to the untimely demise.
