People pay last tributes to beloved actor Razzak

Hundreds of people from all walks of life paid their last tributes to iconic actor Razzak at the Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday.

Politicians, cultural personalities and activists converged on the area to say goodbye to Nayak Raj [the king of heroes] Razzak while Sammalito Sangskritik Jote arranged the tribute programme.

Comparing Razzak with Mohanayak Uttam Kumar, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said, “He had contributed to Bangla films for five decades. His death is a great loss to us.”

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Health Minister Mohammed Nasim, were among others, present.

Razzak will be buried at Banani Graveyard after his 2nd namaz-e-janaza at Azad Mosque in Gulshan.

Earlier, his 1st namaz-e-janaza was held on the premises of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on Tuesday morning.

Razzak’s body was taken to BFDC premises at 11:10 am and his first namaz-e- janaza was held there at 11:35 am. His body was kept there till 12:10 pm enabling his colleagues and admirers to pay their last respect to him.

Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu paid tributes to the iconic actor at the FDC in the morning when a lot of artistes, his co-workers and fans from across the country paid their respects to him with teary eyes.  

After paying tributes, Inu said, “His death is a great loss to our film industry. He had worked to revive the name and fame of Bangla films till his death.”

“The government will preserve every work of the legendry actor for the next generation. His contributions to Bangla films will be remembered forever,” Inu added.
  
Popular film actress Babita said,” Razzak is an institution for our film industry. He was unique as a friend, philosopher and star. He’ll ever remain everywhere at the FDC.”

President of Bangladesh Chalachitro Shilpi Samity Misha Saudagar said, “He was our inspiration. His long-term acting career is source of lessons for us.”

Earlier on Monday, the actor was taken to United Hospital around 5:30 pm after he had suffered a cardiac arrest and doctors declared him dead around 6:13 pm.
